Growth in Energy consumption
Worldwide energy demand and trade continue to soar, increasing long-term demand for our integrated marine infrastructure services.
By 2030, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) predicts that the world will be consuming 50 percent more energy than it does today. The strongest growth in demand is in the developing world, with non-OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) countries expecting to increase their need by 85 percent over this time period, compared with 19 percent growth in the OECD countries. Over this period, liquid fuel is expected to remain the world’s dominant energy source. The EIA expects world use of liquids and other petroleum to grow from 83.6 million barrels oil equivalent per day in 2005 to 95.7 million barrels per day in 2015 and 112.5 million barrels per day in 2030.
