Continuous investment in a large and versatile fleet

Dredging has evolved dramatically in the last 100 years; it has become far more complex and sophisticated. In 1910, Boskalis had a large fleet for those days: 3 bucket dredgers, 1 suction dredger, 1 elevator, 2 dump vessels, 2 house boats and 10 barges. Since then, the fleet has been expanded gradually and new ships have been developed. The first diesel-electric bucket dredger went into service in 1948. The development of the James 47 trailing suction hopper dredger in 1953 was a significant milestone, bringing trailer dredging to Europe and giving a major boost to the dredging industry. Today we have one of the world’s largest and most technically advanced fleets, included associates, consisting of 1.100 units. Our new state-of-the-art ships meet the highest nautical standards in efficiency and energy consumption.
