This high profile contract for Conwy County Borough Council included the supply of material to renourish one kilometre of beach as part of Phase 1 of the Colwyn Bay Waterfront Project. The beach nourishment comprised the majority of the works and was completed by Boskalis Westminster under a subcontract to main contractor Volker Stevin.

Material was sourced from Westminster Gravels licensed winning Area 457, situated approximately twelve nautical miles from the site, beyond the Burbo Bank Wind Farm. The trailing suction hopper vessel ‘Barent Zanen’ dredged, transported and pumped the beach material ashore through a sinker pipeline over 1,500 metres long.
