Boskalis Westminster undertook this debris removal for the main contractor using the backhoe dredger Manu Pekka. The work was undertaken on a charter basis, working strictly in accordance with our client’s instruction and supervision.
The debris was from concrete piles and larger blocks of concrete positioned further into the channel, all from an old quay wall. Material wall was dredged and deposited on the quayside to allow removal by others with an onshore excavator. In order to minimise impact on the operation of the port, the dredger had to be moved off location to allow marine traffic through the harbour channel. The dredge master maintained contact with the harbour master throughout so all vessel movements were safely co-ordinated.
