With its roots in the Netherlands, Boskalis has over 100 years’ experience in hydraulic engineering, coastal protection and land reclamation. Our head office is located in Papendrecht and we have an extensive network of branches around the world. We operate in 90 countries and across six continents, with a versatile fleet of more than 700 vessels and floating equipment. Shares in the company have been listed on Euronext Amsterdam since 1971.
Traditionally, dredging has been Boskalis’ core activity. Our services include the construction and maintenance of ports and waterways, land reclamation, coastal defense and riverbank protection.
Today we also offer a wide variety of maritime services and contracting to the offshore energy sector. These include the development, construction, transport, installation, inspection, repair & maintenance (IRM) and decommissioning of oil and LNG import/export facilities, offshore platforms, pipelines and cables and offshore wind farms.
We provide towage services, emergency response and salvage through SMIT. Together with our strategic partner in harbor towage (Keppel Smit Towage in Asia) and terminal services (Smit Lamnalco), we cover more than 90 ports in 36 countries around the world.
Our main clients are governments, port and terminal operators, oil, gas and wind energy companies, mining companies and related EPC contractors and subcontractors, shipping companies, insurance companies and international project developers.
Boskalis has more than 10,000 experts who are driven by a passion for their work and an entrepreneurial spirit. We understand that delivering a project safely, on time and within budget demands professionalism, building trust, teamwork and close cooperation. Boskalis is able to build a team around your needs with our global team of professionals from a wide range of disciplines. These include hydraulic, civil and marine engineering, ecology, morphology, geology, geophysics and marine biology. Combined with key competences ranging from project management, operations and risk management, we are focused on achieving the best result. Staff training and development are major priorities at Boskalis. We offer a range of courses and training programs for starters and experienced professionals alike.
Demand for our services is driven by growing energy consumption, growth in global trade and a growing world population, as well as climate change.
We operate worldwide but concentrate on regions that have the highest growth expectations for the energy and ports markets. This spread gives us both a solid foundation and the flexibility to be able to secure a wide range of projects, as well as providing good prospects for balanced and sustained growth.
