Boskalis’ most important strategic objective is the creation of long-term sustainable profitability. Our corporate social responsibility policy seeks to achieve a healthy balance between economic value creation on the one hand, with caring for the environment and social responsibility on the other.
As we are increasingly asked to ‘push back boundaries,’ also in remote and vulnerable locations, our stakeholders have a growing interest in our corporate social responsibility (CSR) policy. To set priorities, we conducted a first materiality analysis in 2015, incorporating input from 70 important stakeholders. The results form the backbone of our CSR policy and have been incorporated in our strategy and reporting structure.
Our CSR strategy
The materiality analysis identified four key CSR topics, which are of material importance to ourselves and our stakeholders. These are areas where we have a significant impact, and which we are able to influence.
Since 2009, Boskalis has published an annual CSR report, providing stakeholders with an overview of our CSR policy and performance. We report in accordance with the international guidelines set out in the Global Reporting Initiative, version G4. All Key Performance Indicators in the CSR 2016 report have been verified with limited assurance by an independent party in accordance with the ISAE3000 guidelines.
