In 2015, the United Nations developed 17 SDGs comprising a common set of 17 goals and 169 sub-targets. The goals call for worldwide action among governments, business and civil society to end poverty, ensure prosperity for all and protect the planet. We aim to help realize these goals where we can through our business.
Our contribution
To identify which SDGs are most relevant to our activities and where Boskalis has the most to contribute, we completed an SDG assessment using the approach of the SDG Compass, a guide for business action developed by the Global Reporting Initiative, the UN Global Compact and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. In line with this approach, we determined the extent to which we can contribute to the SDGs and the risks and opportunities they present throughout our value chain. Our projects contribute directly to one of the four SDGs listed below. In addition, we contribute to an over-arching Goal – SDG 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth – which is applicable to all of our work.
SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy
SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
SDG 13: Climate Action
SDG 14: Life Below Water
