NASR full field development

Boskalis was subcontracted to install 2 topsides and 3 jackets in the NASR and Umm Shait oil fields: The Accommodation Platform/AP Jacket, the Separation Platform/SP Jacket and the Gas Treatment Platform/GTP Jacket are installed in the NASR Field. The installed net weights of the jackets ranged from 2,270 to 3,070 metric tons.

The floating sheerleg Asian Hercules 3, a 5,000 metric tons heavy lift vessel, was mobilized to Abu Dhabi in 2017 for the jacket installations, thereafter demobilized to NW-Europe for other work and then re-mobilized to Abu Dhabi in 2018 for the topside installations. Asian Hercules 3 and supporting marine spread underwent a strict third-party certification regime to comply with ADMA-OPCO specifications. Project personnel and crew was trained and certified to be able to work in the ADMA OPCO fields. The jackets were fabricated in Shenzhen, China where the lifting rigging for the jackets was preinstalled under Boskalis supervision. The Topsides were fabricated in Ulsan, Korea where the lifting rigging on the topsides was pre-installed under Boskalis supervision. Heavy Transport Vessels were used for the transport of the jackets and topsides to Abu Dhabi. These were equipped with additional mooring winches to enable a safe mooring in the congested NASR and Umm Shaif fields, required for the lift off operations. The Asian Hercules 3 mooring system was modified for the use of Dyneema® mooring ropes, which had to be connected to 75 t piggy backed gravity anchors. The mooring operations and installation lifts went smoothly and provided a quick, safe and successful installation of the 3 jackets and 2 topsides for our customer and end client.
